Those outboard Hydrocats were not coverted. The factory made an outboard model which was nothing more than the same hull with an armstrong bracket and an outboard hanging off of it. You need a 10' surf rod to work a fish in the stern area around the motors.
Your problem may one of 2 things.
You are not using enough trim to get the bows out of the water thus creating bow steer. The cabin models forward weight, with less stern weight than the I/O model, might require a more exaggerated bow trim. As with all semi-displacemnet catamaran hulls... When in doubt - trim it out.
OR... this is a design flaw on the outboard models which could ultimately be the reason why the company sold about 3 times and eventually died in Texas.
