Fuel management gauge selection
Guys,

I know from reading the WC forum and others that the NavMan 3100 is a fuel management gauge a lot of people like, but how do I know from reading the specs that it will work with my motors. I have Honda BF225's (2004 vintage).

I am assuming they worked with these engines in 2004 since I saw a post that someone was using the gauge with my engines, but I wonder if the specs have changed.

As I understand, the gauge uses data it collects from the engine and data from GPS to make its calculations - right?

For the electronics, (I have a Garmin 2010c)

1. is the connection to GPS required? It should do GPH without needing GPS data.

3. I see the NMEA sentences and ports, but I am not sure if they all have to match or is a partial match acceptable for my chartplotter.

4. Is there a standard connector these things use to get the GPS data they need from the chart plotter or am I cutting and splicing wires?

I can't seem to find clear guidance on compatibility and how these things work, any help is appreciated.

navman will need a fuel flow sensor installed in the fuel lines to each engine and should give you gph with out mpg - unless hooked to your gps

whay the nav man over the honda digital gauges? early 04 should work with the digital gauges with adition of a six wire pfi pannel wire harness for each engine

there are two diferent connectros for gps interfaze that i know of the most comon any more is the little round connector the size of a pencil eraser

Its all about having FUN!
