Fresh Water Pump

My fresh water pump on 2004 270TE keeps losing its prime and I cannot seems to get it to pump again.  Water is flowing to the pump via gravity, so it seems odd that it would keep losing prime.

Anyone got some tips on dealing with these pumps or what the root cause may be?

Thanks,

Greg

Re: Fresh Water Pump

gseiber,

Chances are you have a small leak on the suction side of the pump allowing air to intrude which breaks the suction of the pump.  Check you fittings and hoses from tank to pump first.  If this is not the case it could be bad diaphragms in the pump itself.

Re: Fresh Water Pump

My pump loses prime all the time also.  I have tried everything I can think of to prime it, but no luck.  My dealer was able to prime it last time it was in the shop, but I cannot figure out how they did it.

Anyone know the best way to get the pump primed?  Water gravity feeds to the pump, so it seems to me that priming should not even be necessary.
